Galley Kitchens

I am working with 2 different clients with Galley Kitchens at the moment.  I found the the pictures in the following posts while I was looking for inspiration.  This first picture is the most over the top, but I love the way they were not afraid to use all they had to create a beautiful kitchen in the narrow space.  Look at the furniture look of the drawer cabinets.  The toe space was left open at the sink.  The finish on the cabinets is beautiful and unique.  The refrigerator is like an armoire    Notice the use of a stove instead of a separate cook top and double ovens to save space.   (Oh yes, it is a wonderful stove)  The mouldings really make it rich.

The great thing about this picture is that is shows how you can have really upscale and beautiful things even if you have a small galley kitchen.  The stone sink (I have used this kind of sink before, and it fits in a standard sink size area), the detailed wood hood, the furniture foot on the sink cabinet, are all lovely in here.  I like the shelves that are open on both sides to let light into the small space, the microwave off the counter saves counter space.

Other than the ceiling (love it) , which may not be possible in some projects, this room is full of wonderful ideas.  I love the light fixtures, flooring, and the hood.  All the details make this room really special.

Kitchen looks for cabin and lodge

The traditional rustic woods like knotty alder or rustic cherry work well with the lodge or cabin lifestyle.  I like the bun feet used in this kitchen because they give the kitchen a casual furniture look.

I have another way I like to look at the lodge or mountain cabin look.  It is a little more dressed up, but I think it fits the style.  I know one kitchen is larger than the other, but the style can work either larger or smaller.   The slate backsplash, the glazed wood of the cabinets , and leather trim on the furniture all work well with a rustic style.  The fabrics have a pretty yet heavy look that works well with the lodge style as well.  I design my kitchens with the same brand of cabinets  pictured in these photos.  I can create a custom kitchen look for your home as well.  http://www.roetterconstruction.com/

Add more storage to your kitchen

If you need extra storage in you kitchen, and have a little wall space or corner, you might be able to gain some much needed storage.   Each of the sections shown here are available separately, and can be hung from the wall, or floor mounted.  The accessories can be mixed and matched according to your needs.  The units are 14" deep, which allows for nice storage, but doesn't take up much space.  Think of a baking center, a microwave center, a wine center, food storage or small appliance storage.  In my own house I have a shallow depth cabinet along some open wall space between the kitchen and great room.  It stores all my small appliances, and plates, cups, and glasses.
(My original kitchen has 5 cabinets, so I like having this added storage area . ) Look at my website
